What are you all up to this weekend? I’ve got a jam packed weekend ahead of me filled with nursing, changing diapers, and letting a newborn sleep on me 😍might not be too exciting but I’m down with it!
This week has honestly FLOWN by! I’m looking forward to some family time this weekend and just straight up chillin. We’ve had so many amazing people pass along presents for the baby and our older boys; and the FOOD train that keeps coming has been a life saver. Love our tribe and community!❤️
I mentioned yesterday on insta that I started to clear out my maternity gear ((coming to a Salvation Army near you lol)) and it gave me all the feels. So many emotions- sadness for never having a little one again... happiness to finally be one size again .. not first trimester size.. second trimester size.. and just HUGE... and “postpartum size” lol.
I also felt relief because I love cleaning my closet out! It’s such an amazing feeling getting rid of clutter. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of my maternity clothes and then some things I’ve just plain and simple had wayyyy to long and tbh I’ve been hoarding! LOL. It makes your life soooo much more streamlined and items are a lot easier to find!! Win!
January is the perfect time to clear the old out ... you’re not spending as much time outdoors and you have the time to organize! I wanted to share my criteria for whether something goes in the “keep” pile or the “donate” pile.. I think we all have a hard time parting with material things at times but simplifying my wardrobe now that I’m going to be one size is high on my Priorities for 2019!
I usually donate my clothes but I know there are tons of options these days- selling online (eBay, poshmark, etc) , selling to different thrift shops (ie Plato’s closet and local companies)… I tend to just donate and use it as tax donation because I don’t have the time to go to different shops; also the time to photograph everything and post for online sales - then to mail it out —homegirl ain’t got time for that. This is why I donate ! It also makes me feel good knowing I can help someone by giving something really nice! ❤️
Criteria when organizing/clearing out clothing:
When was the last time I wore this? If it wasn’t in the last 3-6 months.. toss it!!
Does it fit properly? If it doesn’t .. toss it!!
Do I feel comfortable and confident in it? This one is huge! Feeling comfortable and confident in your clothes is soooo important!! This has become more and more crucial for me since becoming a mom - I need to move and feel comfortable in my clothes so if it’s restricting out it goes!!
Is it still in good condition? Any tips, stains, mid shaping, discoloring, fading.. let it go!!
Would I buy this today if I saw it at the store? If not .. byeeeee Felecia!!!
Is it appropriate? This one is also one that rings true for me these days I have clothes that I cleared out that weren’t really “appropriate” for either work, mom life, etc
A quick tip I also have is to bag your “unsure” items….chances are you won’t be going back in the bag in the next month- and in that case it makes your mind up for you & its super easy to get rid of those clothes!
How do you guys tackle your closet organization? I hope this criteria can help/ motivate you to clear some things out to simplify your life and also help someone who is less fortunate!!
There are some AMAZING sales this weekend that I wanted to pass along as well! Here are a few items that I am absolutely LOVING 😍😍
