It’s MONDAY! Monday’s after a holiday weekend are always 🥴but I’m actually excited after this one!
I definitely had a good time celebrating the 4th and splurged a little bit so I’m ready to get back on track 🙌🏼🙌🏼
We are in for a HUGE heat wave this week... think: 94 degrees all week and a crazy heat index! I’m not one to love training in the heat, but I somehow get it done! I’m here to share with you 6 ways I beat the heat and get my workout in!
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I know, I know. Everyone thinks they know all about hydrating. But seriously... how many days do we actually follow through with it?!!! I am constantly drinking water! Water is crucial to your body.. especially during the heat. You literally will not be able to perform or complete your workout if you’re training in the heat without being hydrated properly. And no, that’s doesn’t mean drinking 2 hours before your activity. It means drinking lots of water all. Day. Long. And the day before! The biggest advice I can give you is one glass when you wake up, one glass before bed, and one with each meal! Then you’ll be well on your way (and find yourself eating a lot less!)
Embrace the morning. Okay, I know this one can be tough... but mornings are where it’s at in the summer at least! I love it because it’s so quiet, theres no hustle and bustle of rushing to preschool drop off, making lunches or getting on the bus! Also it is WAY COOLER. I like to lay out my clothes and pack everything for work the night before to make my morning smoother. Once you get into a routine, it definitely gets easier. I find if you can get it done early, it’s always better. As the day goes on, there’s always a risk that something comes up!!
Accountability: I find that sharing my goals with you guys helps me stay accountable! Share your goals. Share your workouts. Share your progress. Not only will you stay on track- but you’ll motivate others. There’s a huge difference between telling one person and 200 people knowing your goals!
Embrace weights: I know this one might be a little bit tricky with gyms still being closed in some places (including here in NY ugh! ) .. but embrace resistance training. You can do this at any time, and indoors in the air conditioning! Think bands, kettlebells, body weight, and free weights! There are so many fun exercises you can do with just a few items!
Intervals are your BfF in summer: If you follow me on IG, you know I love some intervals. Not only are they great at burning fat, but they get you fit QUICK. I love doing intervals in summer because it gives me a quick breather in the heat. You train hard for 10-30 seconds, then rest. Think track workouts, sprints, tabatas, and even biking/ jumping rope.
Lastly, find something you love to do outdoors. Whether it’s walking, biking, hiking, playing a sport... you’ll be more likely to enjoy your time and not notice the heat if you love what you’re doing!
Happy Monday! Let’s have a great week!
