Fashion is a huge passion of mine {{my closet (s) are crazy!!}} ! Although I spend most of my days wearing my nikes and leggings, its important to remember that you can still look put together and nice when you are wearing comfortable gym wear....AKA "Athleisure"...
I totally feel the athleisure area of fashion has totally taken off the last few years. I love dressing up and feeling feminine but being a super active, busy mom sometimes it isn't practical to throw on my skinny jeans and boots. If I'm walking 2 miles with Max in the stroller and running around with him in the park, I need to wear something comfortable but also stylish! I'm also not one for changing my outfit numerous times in one day. So, for me, like many moms, I look for practical, comfortable, athlesuire clothes that can take me from the park, to the gym, to the grocery store and back home!
How to pull off the Athlesuire look:
Don’t be frumpy. Keep the baggy sweats in the drawer for the couch.
Be balanced. If your tights/leggings/shorts are tight or short, balance it with a looser top. Remember, youre not actually AT the gym. Keep your tight racer tanks and cute nike pro leopard print short sliders for your treadmill workout.
If possible, keep your brands streamlined or categorized. There’s nothing more awkward if you see someone with puma shoes, adidas pants, a nike top and an under armour hat. I recommend categorizing brands if you cant go all one brand {{why can’t Athleta have that semi annual sale like…every month??!!}$$$$} Athleta/lululemon, nike/adidas…you get the drift. I commonly mix Athleta and lulu.
Add everyday pieces to your athletic look. Great options are jean jackets, , sweaters, moto jackets, fur vests, anorak coats, thermals, puffy vests, edgy tops, and tees with fun sayings.
Add variety to your footwear: Change it up from your regular gym shoes/runners. Mix in some fun keds, nike high top wedges, lifestyle sneakers, Sorel boots, converse, or even birkenstocks in the summer. Flip flops are an easy solution as well but they’re horrible for your feet...ha ha.
Accessorize, Accessorize, Accesorize: Adding fun jewelry, scarves that add a pop of color, or cool messenger bags/backpacks like these to complete your outfit.
